From Camera Access to Live Monitoring in Under 5 Days

No hardware procurement. No IT overhaul. No MES integration required to start. Misti runs on the RTSP/ONVIF cameras you already have.

What You Need

Prerequisites for Deployment

Three things needed. No exceptions, no surprises.

IP Cameras with RTSP or ONVIF

Most commercial IP camera brands support RTSP and/or ONVIF protocols. This includes Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, Hanwha, and most others manufactured after 2015. Your security integrator or camera vendor can confirm compatibility.

Network Access to Camera Streams

RTSP stream credentials or ONVIF access credentials for the cameras covering your target zones. This is a read-only feed — no camera hardware changes, no firmware updates required.

Zone Map or Floor Plan

A basic floor plan or camera coverage map for the areas you want to monitor. This can be as simple as a sketched layout — we use it to configure zone boundaries and alert thresholds during onboarding.

Deployment Timeline

Five Steps from Access Request to Live Monitoring

1
Day 1

Access Request

Share RTSP/ONVIF credentials. We test connectivity to camera streams and confirm zone coverage.

2
Day 1–2

Zone Mapping

Review your floor plan together, define zone boundaries, assign zone names and alert logic to match your operations.

3
Day 2–3

Model Calibration

Calibrate detection to your facility's specific lighting conditions, PPE types, and worker activity patterns. This is what makes the data accurate to your floor, not a generic model.

4
Day 4

Team Walkthrough

Dashboard walkthrough with your plant manager, EHS lead, and operations director. Configure report delivery and alert routing to your team's workflow.

5
Day 5

Live Monitoring

First live shift report delivered. Zone data visible in your dashboard. Alerts routing to configured recipients. Incident event log active.

IT Security

Deployment Options for OT Network Requirements

Cloud Deployment

Camera streams processed in Misti's cloud infrastructure. Data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Suitable for facilities with standard IT network segmentation where outbound encrypted traffic to cloud services is permitted.

No cloud requirement for camera hardware — only the processed analytics data transits to cloud. Raw video is not stored remotely unless explicitly configured.

On-Premises Deployment

Processing runs on a Misti-provided edge node within your OT network segment. Suitable for facilities with strict OT/IT segmentation, air-gap requirements, or customer data handling restrictions prohibiting cloud transmission.

On-prem deployment requires a compute node (provided by Misti) and local network access. No outbound internet required for processing. Dashboard access over internal network only.

Common Questions

Deployment FAQ

No. Misti runs on existing IP cameras that support RTSP or ONVIF protocols. The vast majority of commercial IP cameras manufactured after 2015 support one or both. No firmware updates, hardware modifications, or camera replacements are required.
Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, Hanwha, Pelco, Vivotek, and most other commercial IP camera manufacturers. If your cameras support RTSP stream access, they are almost certainly compatible. We confirm compatibility during the access request step on Day 1.
No MES or SCADA integration is required to start. Misti operates independently of your production control systems using only camera feeds. MES/SCADA integration is available for facilities that want to correlate zone data with production records — but it is not a prerequisite for deployment.
No floor downtime required. Camera access credentials are provided without camera hardware access. Zone mapping and calibration is done remotely. The only on-site activity is the optional team walkthrough on Day 4, which is a dashboard review — not an installation activity.
Misti connects to sub-streams (typically 720p or lower resolution) rather than full 4K streams, significantly reducing bandwidth requirements. Typical bandwidth per camera: 1–3 Mbps. We optimize sub-stream configuration during the access request step to minimize network impact.
On-premises deployment adds approximately 2–3 days for edge node setup and network configuration compared to the cloud deployment path. Typical on-prem timeline is 7–10 days from access request to live monitoring, depending on your IT security review process.
We provide data flow diagrams, network access requirements documentation, data processing agreements, and our security controls summary. For facilities requiring a formal IT security review, we typically complete reviews within 5 business days. Contact us at [email protected] to request documentation.
Yes. The Day 4 team walkthrough covers dashboard use for plant managers, EHS leads, and operations directors. Additional training sessions for supervisors and floor staff can be scheduled as needed. Ongoing support is included in all tiers.
